Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up or login. On the welcome screen you can also choose "Skip โ explore with demo data" to look around with sample data.
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone. Your records are not copied to a Masala Health server. The exceptions are things you choose to do, described in the privacy policy: for example, the Ask feature sends a redacted question to an AI service after you confirm.
Do I have to connect Epic MyChart?
No. Connecting is optional and needs a login from your own health system. You can also use Apple Health, import files from your clinic, or enter results manually. When you do connect, records are downloaded straight to your phone, and a card on the Home screen shows when they last synced. You can disconnect a health system from the app's Settings.
What does "Copy for AI" share?
Nothing happens until you tap Copy or Share. It makes a text summary of your record that you can paste into an AI app such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini. Your name, date of birth, and provider names are left out unless you switch on "Include identifying details". Once the text is in another app, that app's own privacy terms apply. Masala Health is not affiliated with or endorsed by those services.
How do I delete my data?
In the app, go to Home, tap the gear icon for Settings, find the person under Family, and choose Delete. This removes that person's records, results, visits, and Epic connection from the phone. Deleting the app removes the rest of its local data. In Settings under Privacy & data you can also delete any remaining audio recordings and cloud-generated summaries from earlier versions. To stop the Ask feature sending anything, tap "Stop sharing with the AI assistant" in Settings.
Is this medical advice?
No. Masala Health provides information for education. It does not diagnose or treat any condition. Reference ranges and targets come from published guidelines, listed in Settings under Sources & medical references. Please talk to your clinician about your health.
